On April 11, 2009, a 47 year old Scottish lady from Blackburn, Scotland became an overnight sensation. Not only did we discover the angelical voice of Susan Boyle , but she also taught us all a valuable lesson on “not judging a book by its cover”.

Susan Boyle on "Britain's Got Talent"
I have to confess, upon seeing the video on YouTube for the first time, I was brought to tears. Here was a lady who, more than likely, was bullied and ridiculed most of her life. She says she’s never been married or kissed. And she’ll be the first to tell you that she’s not the most glamorous lady in Scotland. She simply has a passion for singing and wants to share it with the world.
Right before her appearance on the UK television program “Britain’s Got Talent”, Boyle was interviewed by hosts Ant & Dec. The immediate perception was this was going to be a joke of a performace. When Boyle walked on stage prior to her performace, the audience and judges were seen clearly snickering at this ungroomed lady who seemed to have all the grace of a cow. But when that first note came out flowing out of her vocal cords, those perceptions immediately vanished.
After that performance, Boyle’s life immediately took a dramatic turn. She has been interviewed by almost every news media in the UK. Across the Atlantic, media outlets in the USA such as CNN, ABC and NBC have interviewed her as well. Her performance on “Britain’s Got Talent” has been posted on YouTube and less than a week after her performance the video clip reached over 30 million hits.
Scotland and the world has someone they can be very proud of. Susan Boyle. It just goes to show you that some of the greatest gifts from God come in plain paper wrapping.

Not long ago, but maybe a lifetime ago, Susan named her idol as being Elaine Paige during her Britain’s Got Talent audition. Not long after, Elaine Paige met Susan Boyle after her performances on the famous breakfast TV show in the US. It was clear to all of us that one day in the near future, our Susan would be singing a duet with Elaine Paige. It all made so much sense.
Elaine Paige, the first lady of musical theatre in Britain sang with Susan on a TV special. Susan and Elaine shared a duet of I Know Him So Well. Susan acknowledged that this had been a dream come true to perform with her idol.
A plan was made to have the pair sing a duet from the musical Chess. However, Simon Cowell’s Syco record company ended the deal.
Elaine Paige is at a loss to explain, but it could be that something she said which was misinterpreted by the media. Paige explained the phenomena of Susan Boyle as something akin to a virus that spread around the world. However, Elaine Paige meant something like a computer virus.

Subo and Elaine Paige
Taking things out of context has often happened with Susan Boyle. But, have no doubts, Simon Cowell and his company definitely are out to protect Susan.
Elaine Paige has extended another invitation for Susan to perform in public with her, but she is not very hopeful.
“I’m a supporter of Susan and good luck to her. She’s done amazingly well and if you consider she’s had no experience at all and no one can ever understand the pressures involved of being thrust into the public eye, said Paige
However, it would be such a grand occasion if Syco finally allows Susan and Elaine to perform on the stage together or record a song together.

Susan Boyle has won another award and this time, by the voters of Scotland as the “Scot of the Year.” A huge 95% of the voters nominated Susan with the ScotsCare award. Never before has this honor been won by such a windfall of people’s votes.
Runners up for the last 5% of the vote included Ewan McGregor and politician Tommy Sheridan.
Why did our Subo win? Well, for several reasons. Firstly, even though she has achieved international stardom, she has chosen to remain in Scotland and not move off to London or America. Susan decided to remain in Scotland and in this way, she shows pride in her country of Scotland. The second reason she won is because of her wonderful personality which everyone loves. The third reason is that she is one of the singers with the highest in international sales of her CD albums.
Nevertheless, she is pleased and proud of her award.
