Millions of people in Britain are going to be watching the show on Saturday night as well as tens of millions around the world. If our dear Susan can prevail over the other nine contestants, this overnight singing sensation from a little village in Scotland will win £100,000 and a chance to sing for the Queen of England at a Royal Variety Show. However, she must win over her rivals and sing absolutely brilliantly to keep the hearts of the British public.
Neil Warnock, chief executive of The Agency Group which represents many of the top musicians said that “I think with the swell of public sympathy behind her, she could win this competition and from that I think she could have a very successful album and probably one successful world tour because people will be curious to see her.” However, he noted, this fame could be fleeting.
Susan Boyle’s biggest challenge in the future will then be to sing for the length of an entire live concert, definitely something more of a hurdle than to sing a three minute song on the telly. The certain good news is that a professional singing career is ahead of her. She has already been offered s recording contract and her already achieved fame promises a bright future ahead for Susan.
The problem will be if she fumbles or gets nervous on Saturday night’s Britain’s Got Talent. Critics are saying that she could as easily be forgotten as quickly as some other one-hit wonders of the past. Warnock added that on the talent show, “We tend to make fun of the very, very stupid acts, but it has its own Englishness and its own eccentricity and we love that. And you see a spark of genuine talent every once in a while.”
All Saturday night’s ten finalists have dollar signs and stars in their eyes. The other nine finalists have to compete against Susan Boyle, the darling of YouTube where more than 175 million people have watched the videos of Susan’s performances. And she already has a following of such noted fans as Obama, Simon Cowell, Oprah, Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore. Ashton and Demi are even flying into London to watch Susan Boyle sing.
