British singing star Elaine Page, 61, said Susan Boyle’s rise to stardom, reminds her of the story of Evita. She is also reminded of her own rags-to-riches rise in Susan Boyle’s own story. That story of the Scottish woman, never been kissed, who, over the period of a few weeks became a global phenomenon on YouTube and Britain’s Got Talent.
Elaine, whom Susan named her idol during her Britain’s Got Talent audition, met Susan Boyle not long after her performances on the famous television show on a breakfast TV show in the US. Elaine said in a Yours magazine interview “I found it rather emotional, a rags to riches kind of story – a bit like Evita herself. But it was more than that.
“I felt I knew what Susan was going through, the full horror of it all. You could see it in her eyes.”
“I hadn’t been very confident when Evita changed my world but I was a professional.”
However, Elaine and Susan, 48, have met and Elaine now feels that Susan is on the right path to success with the right mentors.
Elaine said: “Susan’s learning fast – she’s got over the initial shock. Yes, she still seems quite vulnerable but there’s a streak of Scottish grit beneath the surface.
“And she’s got a good team around her. So let’s hope they continue to protect and look after her. I wish her great success.”
Susan Boyle is currently preparing for the release of her new album which everybody is waiting for with the highest of hopes.
